Alder House Apartments is a building in downtown Portland owned by Community Partners for Affordable Housing (CPAH), containing 138 efficiency studios. A building-wide renovation had been in-process for approximately two years before Peregrine Relocations was contracted to facilitate the installation of a new sprinkler system. This part of the project was an occupied rehab, conducted while tenants still occupied their units. The installation took between 1 and 3 days per unit, depending on the location of each unit in the building. Tenants were not required, but were encouraged to leave their units during installation. Peregrine Relocations collaborated with LMC Construction, Guardian Management, and Center for Positive Aging to provide tenant support. Support included the careful handling of tenant belongings to provide space for Construction to work, and providing tenants with activities or a place to stay while the installations were completed. Peregrine Relocations requested use of several unoccupied units and created furnished respite rooms to allow tenants to allow tenants, and occasionally their pets, to relax while work was completed in their unit.
